阅读一篇英语短文的午后时光

今天下午，我决定静下心来阅读一篇英语短文。这篇短文选自《床头灯英语学习读本》，标题是《The Gift of the Magi》。
初读时的困惑
刚开始阅读时，我遇到了不少生词，比如"imputation"、"meretricious"等。我不得不频繁地查词典，这让我有些沮丧。但转念一想，这不正是学习的过程吗？于是，我拿出笔记本，将这些生词记录下来，并标注了音标和中文释义。
理解故事情节
随着阅读的深入，我被这个感人的故事深深吸引。故事讲述了一对贫穷的年轻夫妇，为了给对方买圣诞礼物，不惜牺牲自己最珍贵的东西。丈夫卖掉了祖传的金表，为妻子买了梳子；而妻子则剪掉了美丽的长发，为丈夫买了表链。
这个故事让我想起了欧·亨利式的结尾——意料之外，情理之中。虽然结局有些伤感，但其中蕴含的爱与奉献却让人动容。
语言学习的收获
通过这次阅读，我不仅学到了许多新的词汇和表达方式，比如"to falter"表示犹豫，"to flutter"表示飘动，还体会到了英语文学的魅力。我特别喜欢文中描写德拉长发的一段："Della's beautiful hair fell about her, rippling and shining like a cascade of brown waters."这样的描写既生动又形象。
反思与计划
这次阅读经历让我意识到，坚持每天阅读一篇英语短文的重要性。虽然刚开始可能会有些吃力，但随着词汇量的积累和阅读技巧的提高，一定会越来越轻松。我决定制定一个阅读计划：
- 每天至少阅读一篇英语短文
- 记录并复习遇到的生词
- 尝试用自己的话复述故事内容
- 每周写一篇英语读后感
我相信，通过这样系统的学习，我的英语水平一定能够得到提升。今天的阅读体验让我收获颇丰，期待明天的英语短文阅读时光。
