My Earthquake Experience - A Diary Entry for an English Composition
Date: March 15, 2023
Today was the most terrifying day of my life. At 2:30 pm, while I was doing my English composition homework about natural disasters, the ground suddenly started shaking violently. It was an earthquake!
The books fell from my shelf and the lights swung wildly. I remembered the earthquake safety tips we learned in school and immediately dropped, covered, and held on under my study table. My heart was pounding so fast I could hear it.
After about 30 seconds, the shaking stopped. Our house had some cracks but thankfully no one was hurt. This real-life experience made me understand why our English teacher asked us to write about earthquakes - they're much scarier in reality than in compositions.
Tonight, I'll finish my earthquake English composition with this personal story. Maybe it will help others learn about earthquake safety too.
